Week 8 in the top 10 brought plenty of action across the 540, with undefeated teams holding strong and several programs making statements for the playoff push.

THE TOP TEN

10. Massaponax Panthers (4-3)

Massaponax stays at 10 in the rankings at 4-3 after a solid 28-16 win over Stafford. The Panthers’ ground game was steady and physical, wearing down the Indians as the night went on. With the win, Ponax keeps its playoff hopes alive and continues to show growth each week after a tough start to the season.

9. Spotsylvania Knights (4-3)

At number 9, Spotsylvania falls after dropping their second straight, a 22-12 loss to undefeated Caroline. The Knights had chances but couldn’t finish drives against a tough Cavalier defense. They’ll look to bounce back this week against 0-7 Chancellor in what feels like a must-win to get momentum back before the final stretch.

8. Culpeper Blue Devils (5-2)

Culpeper handled business with a 41-0 shutout over winless King George. But the real test and a chance to make some noise in the district comes this week against a tough 5-2 James Monroe squad. A win there would turn some heads and prove the Blue Devils are for real.

7. Kettle Run Cougars (6-1)

Kettle Run survived a gritty battle with Sherando, pulling out a 14-7 win to move to 6-1. The Cougars keep stacking Ws and will look to stay hot this week against county rival Fauquier, who’s struggling at 1-6. This one’s a chance for Kettle Run to stay sharp before the stretch run.

6. Courtland Cougars (6-1)

Courtland took care of business with a 32-15 win over 1-6 Eastern View. Now the Cougars head into a massive test against undefeated Caroline, a matchup that could very well decide the Battlefield District crown.

5. Caroline Cavaliers (7-0)

Caroline fought off a gritty, well-coached Spotsy squad to win 22-12 and continue their historic run. The Cavaliers are now 7-0, one of the best starts in program history, and are playing with serious confidence. They’ll look to keep that momentum rolling this week in a heavyweight showdown with Courtland that could define their season.

4. Louisa Lions (7-0)

Louisa keeps flexing their muscle now 7-0 after steamrolling Albemarle 65-14. The Lions’ offense continues to look unstoppable, and with momentum on their side, they’ll now turn their attention to a heated rivalry matchup against 3-4 Orange. Expect emotions high and pads popping in that one.

3. North Stafford Wolverines (6-2)

North Stafford stays strong at number 3 after a 42-16 win over Mountain View. Chase Sullivan and Antwan Barnes led the way, showcasing why this Wolverines team is a force to be reckoned with. They’ll use this bye week to regroup before the next big test.

2. Colonial Forge Eagles (7-1)

Colonial Forge drops to number 2 after a 41-27 loss at undefeated Riverbend, falling to 7-1 on the season. The Eagles struggled to contain the Bears’ punishing ground attack, allowing Riverbend to control the tempo. Forge will look to bounce back tonight against 2-6 Mountain View

1. Riverbend Bears (7-0)

Riverbend remains undefeated at 7-0 and claims the top spot after dominating Colonial Forge 41-27. QB Ian Shook and RB Adrien Picot controlled the ground game, while WR Cam Simmons added two big scores through the air to keep Forge at bay. The Bears will travel to 3-4 Stafford this week looking to maintain their perfect record.
